So Chris McCoy and I were having our “morning coffee clotch” in the studio, and we got on the subject of our parents, and Chris told me his dad called him “Moon” growing up!   Chris didn’t know why, but it was his nick name…so…I told Chris that my dad to this day still calls me (No laughing here)…”StinkPot!”   (I still get a kick out of it when he knows it’s me on the phone, he says “Hi, StinkPot!)

So, that leads me to ask YOU…was there any name your parents called you growing up, or even now, that your parents have bestowed upon you?   Please share!!

You can write back to the blog, or just send an email to debbiem@greatermedianj.com.

Talk to you on the air!

“StinkPot” aka Debbie :)

A benefit for a great cause August 12, 2008

Hello again!   Thanks, as always, for reading the blog.   I have a few passions in my life; music, coffee, my beloved NY Mets, and animals.

I have 3 cats at home, Snuggles, Bootsie and the newest addition, Casper(AKA “Mr. Burmese!).   All of them were strays that I took in.

Some animals aren’t as lucky; they’re either brought into shelters and “put to sleep” due to overcrowding and not enough people to adopt them, or worse, they just die on their own, out on the streeet.

There’s a great organization called Summit Animal Rescue Association(SARA) and they’re holding a benefit concert this Friday night at The Crossroads in Garwood with The Landsharks.  Tickets are just $20 in advance, or $25 night of the show.   I know that’s more than a tank full of gas these days,  but every penny raised that night will help all the adorable adoptables!

I hope you can make it out for a night of good music, good times, all while helping Summit Animal Rescue Association raise some money for veterinary care, fostering, and hopefully, adoption for a lot of dogs and cats in the area.

If you can’t make the show and want to make a small donation, please email sarabenefit@yahoo.com, or call 732-360-9797.

Thanks!

Debbie

A quick thought before the weekend….

WOW!  Check out the date!  8-8-08!   So, are you going to play that number in tonight’s lottery, or is it just another day for you?   I remember the frenzy last year, when it was 7-7-07.   The number had been sold out for days leading up to it(I know, my dad tried to play it!).

I was reading an article that said some people were getting married today, some were going to do a “daily double” at the track, and if you know anyone that’s turning 88 today, well I’m sure they’re feeling lucky too!

Your thoughts?   Always welcome!   Comment on the blog, or email debbiem@magic983.com!

Enjoy the weekend!

Summer Movies August 7, 2008

So, have you seen “The Dark Knight” yet?   It seems to be the blockbuster of the summer so far, going way beyond the 400 million mark at the box office, and already Batman fans are wondering who the next villian will be.   Rumor mills are buzzing that it will be the Riddler in “Batman 3.”   Guess who they’re trying to line up to play him?   Johnny Depp!

Personally, the “Batman” movies don’t thrill me, only because suspense and things along those lines tend to stay with me long after the movie has ended, and I wind up with nutty dreams!

I guess I’ll be heading off to see “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2” then, huh?!

If you’ve seen “The Dark Knight” though, I want to hear from you!   Hit the blog, or email me at debbiem@magic983.com!

Women speak more than men?! August 6, 2008

So there I was this morning, reading about how women say over 7,000 words a DAY, while men only say about 2,000!   Well, this explains why sites like myspace and facebook are filled with more women than men!   We’re more social and like to TALK!   This would explain margarita night, book club night, girls night out, etc…

The author of this wonderful article out of BestLife Magazine goes on to say there’s certain phrases that men can say to their wives, girlfriends, or significant other that would “enhance” their relationship, and bring them “closer,” such as:

“I’m so glad we ended up together!”

“Let’s talk about the kids tomorrow!  Tonight is about US!”

“Let me tell you how MY day went!”

Here’s my fave:

“Let me draw you a BATH!”   HUH????

Has your hubby ever drawn you a BATH??!   Cracked me up…if there’s something funny/special/cute that your hubby has said to you that you’d like to share, let me know.
